My name is Felicia, I am a high school student, and I love animals
. I am pretty new to chickens and other poultry. I lived in the city for the first 12 years of my life, and for the past four years I have lived in the country. I have had a mix of different kinds of chickens, they were supposedly purebred, but I really don't think they were (I got them from a feed store). I got about 15 chickens when I first moved up to the country, and sadly, they have all passed away. I have always loved animals, and thankfully my parents encourage me to do what I love. I have a dog that I show in AKC Conformation (I have shown him to his AKC, UKC, and CKC Championships). I also do AKC Rally with him. Because of the dogs, I have learned the importance of only breeding high quality healthy animals, and that its very important to stick to the breed's standard. I also have a Romney sheep ewe (who is due to lamb in a month and a half). I have 5 goats (one purebred alpine, and 4 pigmy mixes). I also have a cat and 2 rabbits (one flemish giant and one mix breed).
I am interested in getting some show quality poultry this year for 4-H. All would be breeding stock, due to me getting attached to my animals easily
. I would like to get some Dewlap Toulouse geese, Light Brahma and/or silkie chickens, and some Saxony ducks. I have been doing lots of research on all of those breeds.
