New to the site.

I don't know how they compare to your other birds, but I am a big fan of Sapphire Gems. I recently lost one, but her sister is a rock star -- produces big light brown eggs, gets along with her coop mates, survives frigid winters and hot/humid summers, is good about heading into the coop at night after free ranging all day, and she's pretty on top of all that.

Welcome to BYC, Wolfsong, and congratulations on your hatch!

I live in Kentucky. My family have raised and cared for laying hens off and on for years. We have always had ameraucana chickens, but two years ago we got a new flock since we had to move and we have some sapphire gems as well now. We just hatched 11 out of 14 eggs for the first time with our new flock.
Congrats and welcome to the World Chicken Headquarters ;)
I hope you enjoy your new little chicks!
