Hi everybody,
We are new to the site and not sure all the ins and outs! We recently moved to Sumpter twp MI, and are planning our first chicken coop. We want to start with 5 ladies (I hope buff orpingtons!) and are excited to hear what everybody else is doing too.
We started building our coop and run, but then got dissuaded by the twp ordinance, but now feel confident from the state RTFA that since we are zoned agricultural and have an acre and half our plan should be fine. We'd be so happy to hear from anybody else in our community (or anywhere really) for ideas and advice.

Thanks! Jenny & Dirk

so glad you joined us.

I love the BO they are beautiful big gals when grown and so cute as babes and juveniles. Good luck with your new coop, it is quite frustrating when you know you are doing things right, and all get "punished" for the worst cases that lead to the ordinances.

Good luck locating your new flock and starting on a wonderful new adventure.

I'm glad you joined our community!

Good luck with your coop building and future chickens! Buff Orpingtons are excellent birds to start out with, since they're hardy, gentle, and productive.
