Hello! My name is Sheila and I have 31 hens and 1 roo that are a year old. I have 50 babies that are outgrowing their brooding boxes. I need some ideas on how to incorporate them into the chicken run slowly. They are not big enough to be let go as they will be attacked. Any ideas of a cheap way to make them safe if I put them in the run, but yet have a place for them at night where they can sleep and not be exposed?

I use either those large wire dog crates tied together or these soft playpens, they both allow the main flock to see the chicks as they grow for a few months.

Hiya, and welcome to BYC!!

We have similar to one of those playpens @TwoCrows posted above. The bottom comes off so they can be in the grass, then we move it every few days. They are very handy and fold up when not in use.

Hi Sheila, I don't know how large your run is, but is it big enough to section off an area for the littles (where everyone can see, but not touch each other)?
