New to the world of chicken keeping

Welcome! I really only have roosting space, nesting boxes, food & water inside the coop. I’ve done several things to their (enclosed) run to keep them busy. I put in a designated dust bathing area in one corner, there’s a ladder thing around their small tree, a tall antique wooden ladder, large wooden blocks of different heights/widths, a bale of alfalfa, a xylophone attached to the fence, etc. Then I have things I just do randomly; like today I bought a bunch of feeder fish for them to “catch” in a shallow Rubbermaid container. Sometimes I hang ears of corn on twine for them to eat and “bat” around. Here’s a link to my YouTube channel made for my girls! And I just posted videos from today’s fishing adventure!

Welcome Groovy Girl! I recently joined myself but wanted to give you a shout as our fluffy butted bird situations are quite similar (I took over my sister's flock as part of rent).

This is an amazing community with loads of helpful, knowledgeable and funny people! It's truly indispensable if one is new to the chicken game.

Show us some of your fluffy butts if the fancy strikes you.

Groovy Girl - love your "Hedgepotamus"- to they throw quills at you, or let you live in peace?
No, hedgies don't throw quills. They will however ball up and puff their spikes up and making huffing noises that sound like a coffee pot brewing. Lol
