New to the world of chickens

I am new to chickens, I have 4 lovely ladies who have been with me going on two weeks. The neighbors were moving and had to get rid of their chickens. I Went To Big R in our local town, purchased a coop, put it together, had a fence built around the coop and moved the ladies in. I do not know the breeds. I have been reading about their care and upkeep. I read about this web site in the Costco magazine and thought it would be fun to join this group.

If you post some pictures on the Breed or Gender Forum you should get some opinions from experienced members as to breed.

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you include your general location on your profile, this will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

BYC has a Learning Centre, Articles and also Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out

Thank you for all the nice hello's. I found out yesterday one of my ladies is an Araucanas, lays blue eggs. I may be crazy but I really enjoy these ladies, they have such personalities.
