Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I'm a chicken person and don't know much about quail (never had any), but they sure are cute little birds. If you will post on our quail section at https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/48/quail, our quail experts there should be able to help you out. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck in getting your quail.

Hello there and welcome to BYC! [IMG]

Yes, you need a license to keep any quail Native to this country. You can not raise Gambels without a license. Wild Gambels bring great joy to the out of doors, but they are not a good beginners quail to keep. They are VERY nervous and skittish. They do not do well in small cages and need to be kept in pairs only. They can be difficult to raise, so do your research on them before you dive in.

Good luck and welcome to our flock!
