Hello everyone! I am new to raising chickens so I came here for a little advice on sexing and finding out the breeds of my chickens. I got them from Southern states and they said that they were 95% sure all were hens but I'm positive that there is at least one rooster and I'm a bit iffy on the others. I would also like to know the breed. I got them on March 12 at one day old and got my first white egg yesterday. I have attached pics. Thanks for your help.

First photo is a rooster. Others are pullets/hens. You can also post photos at "what breed or gender is this." The large photo looks like a buff orpington but is pretty blurry.

The sharper the photo the better to evaluate breed/sex.

Good morning, welcome to BYC!

x2 on Cynthia12's response, that's what they look like to me too. The members over on the "what breed/gender" forum should be able to tell you for sure. It would be helpful to take a look at the picture guidelines on that forum to see what will get you the most accurate identification.

Congrats on your 1st egg and thanks for joining us!

glad you have joined us.

Do take the advice to post individual posts on breed/gender. And begin rehoming plans for any that turn out to be roos, your flock is too small for even one.

Good luck with your new adventure.

I have a total of 22 chickens. How many do you normally need for a rooster?
