Hi, I'm a retired chef of 45 years in fine dining. My husband and I have lived on our 5 acres hobbie farm for 35 years in the Lower Fraser Valley of British Columbia, Canada.
I started raising chickens, to go with our goats, rabbits, horses and dogs. I'm also a beekeeper with 20 hives. I'm really enjoying the chickens and we have plans to expand this year. I'm attemping to hatch my first set of eggs as I speak.
My plan is to raise Black Copper Marans, White Bresse and Ameraucanas. I plan to keep separate areas for each, so I can stay true to the breeds.
I'm trying to be as sustainable and natural as possible, using fermented whole grains, natural supplements and medicines. I'm also starting to use hemp bedding instead of pine. As my intention is to have eggs and meat as organic as possible.
