Hi!
I'm new to this group.
I've lived with chickens on / off for 15 years. I hope there will never be an off time again. my current clutch were all born in the spring of 2010 EXCEPT for my chick that hatched yesterday under my broody hen. I was given a fertilized egg from a friend on a "what the heck, we'll try it" whim and my super mama hen decided she was going to make it happen. The mama and chick are doing well in their brooder coop adjacent to our regular coop and I'm interested in trying a few more chicks born this week.
Anyone have local farm (rather than hatchery) chicks from this week?
We fully support organic farm practices. We are in residential Petaluma on a 1/10 plot. We have a large veggie garden and our hens are a part of our family. They get lots of yummies and tlc.
The ladies:
4 cochins
1 australorp
2 bantam golden laced wyandottes
1 barred rock
and the chick is a delaware x black copper maran.
I look forward to meeting you all!
