(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I was just given 7 laying hens, all over a year old, by someone who can't keep them anymore. I'll pick them up as soon as I have a safe habitat for them.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Almost seven.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Buff Orpingtons, lavender Orpingtons, a golden laced Wyandotte, and 2 easter eggers
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
So far... it's fun to plan
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Getting bee hives this summer, I like to work with fabric, taking up pyrography with my uncle as my mentor, and volunteering
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My kids are almost all grown, we have cats, dogs, and a geriatric salamander, I am a homemaker and I get paid to care for two-year-olds twice a week...
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
I just did a search on facebook because the chickens came out of nowhere, a friend is chickensitting for me till I get their space ready and I might be freaking out just a little. I've found bee clubs/pages to be very helpful so I thought it would work for chickens too
