new to this, i need advice, pls

a young RIR has adopted me...she is living in harmony with my outside cats. i put a box down on the porch for her, with hay in it, but she will not use it. last nite, after dark, i find her roosting on the old picnic table on my front porch, where i feed my cats. i can not have a coop, so how do i keep her safe at nite? do they roost on the ground or up in the air? obviously, i am free ranging her. any advise would be appreciated.

you could buy a rabbit cage for her. if you don't provide some kind of shelter for her at night some predator will take her from you. good luck

Yes I agree, she will never be safe unless you close her up at night - a small coop or maybe a pen in your garage?

A dog crate would be good but then again how do you get her in it? They do like to roost high up. I am not sure what your options are. I hope you can find an answer here. maybe you could ask here https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/2/managing-your-flock
