Hello all,
Here are my answers to the newbie questions:
(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? yes, we (my wife and I) are new to raising chickens. we got our first 3 (2 roosters and a hen (we thought we were getting 3 hens)) about 10 months ago. we recently (3 months ago) got 6 pullets that are just about ready to hit the run with the other hen. the rooster we leave running around the yard.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 8. 7 hens and a rooster. we had to put one down because he was worrying the chicken almost to death and practically plucked her back bald.
(3) What breeds do you have? unsure
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? i was looking for information about the salmonella outbreak they were talking about on tv. once i saw this forum i thought it would be a good resource for us to be a part of
(5) What are some of your other hobbies? my other hobbies include wood turning/working, playing world of warcraft, and rebuilding the other house on our property. my wife also plays warcraft and is an artist.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. my wife has 2 grown children that i consider my own and we have 5 grandchildren. we have a cat and soon to be 3 dogs. I work in the IT field and she is a art teacher in elementry and middle schools.
