I was concerned about the poo all over the place, carport, deck, patio etc. and our grown son suggested letting them out to roam an hour before sun set then they would come back to roost for the night sounds great!

One other guy said that he tosses some food on the floor of the pen and they go back in for that.

Keeping fingers crossed it's not going to come back.
 
I'm thinking of getting lentils and wheat grain for some chicken food in bags and the grain elevators b/c of the dust and lack in the mid west. Peas & wheat crops seem to be doing okay here.
