New to this!!!

When it comes to hawks, crows and ravens are your friends. You can put out cracked corn or some eggs from time to time to draw them to your place. As a general rule, hawks aren't happy with humans being around and will rarely strike when we're present. I also scatter little hiding shelters around the area that they roam in. Nothing special just something they can run under. The little hawks are worse than the bigger ones. I've had two hawks bounce off the chicken shelters, which really confuses them. And I've had one really smart little one, actually stood on top of a shelter, waiting for the chicken to stick its head out and nabbed it. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes.

G’Day from down under Sharon :frow Welcome!

Yours girls are very lucky to have you! There are so much fun hey? I just love their little chickenalities.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Personally, I have found the Topic of the Week articles a great resource and a one stop shop for questions which may have already been discussed within the BYC membership group.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)
