When it comes to hawks, crows and ravens are your friends. You can put out cracked corn or some eggs from time to time to draw them to your place. As a general rule, hawks aren't happy with humans being around and will rarely strike when we're present. I also scatter little hiding shelters around the area that they roam in. Nothing special just something they can run under. The little hawks are worse than the bigger ones. I've had two hawks bounce off the chicken shelters, which really confuses them. And I've had one really smart little one, actually stood on top of a shelter, waiting for the chicken to stick its head out and nabbed it. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't see it with my own eyes.
