new to this

hows it going all ...found this page seems to help so far glad to join and meet everyone may not be much for knowledge on chickens/ducks/birds but willing to learn.......so with that said found 3 baby ducks wondering around my carport while working on my car the other day didnt think anything of it just left em alone they dissapeared after awhile but returned the next day 1 short(not sure what happened I live in the city) so played around making noises and they seemed to respond to it and called em from the street and messed around until they were comfortable with me 1 seems to really enjoy the domestic life so to say the other wasn't into it and left but 1 stayed and wont go lol and seems to like being cuddled .....the thing is I have nooooo idea what I'm doing with a duck ((I think it's a rouen but not 100%)) wife loves it though.....any help would be much appreciated

yaa I was thinking the same although it loves to hang out in my wifes hair guessing it's like a nest to it but my main concern is feeding how/what would be best

Congrats. Ducks are fun. I would get ahold of fish and game to make sure they are not wild ducks just to make sure and keep you out of trouble. If they are wild ducks and you can legally keep them just know that wild ducks fly. If ones missing probably cat got it.

thanks didnt know about that for wild ducks just figured it was like random cats and stuff although now that I think about it are they considered exotic animals??

Depends where you live and how they word the pet laws in your area. They would be considered a farm animal but if it is a wild duck then its wildlife and most places you cant just own a Native Wild Animal without permits. I emphasize Native because I legally owned a wild Squirrel once that took a liking to be and contacted Fish and Game and it was a Eastern Grey which was not Native to the area and was introduced species so I was legally able to do what ever I wanted with it. I mean people order wild mallerd ducks that can fly all the time but some city or states dont allow it. Just contact someone that can tell you if its wild or not and if you can legally posses it just so you dont get into trouble.

not sure on what kind it is at the moment but thanks for the advice will definitely look into that

Id start a new thread in the Duck section with the topic asking for help identifying the breed. sure someone could help you figure it out.
