Hi all just as the title says, we have a Black Spanish that is about 12 weeks old and we are new to turkeys, we have three. A Chocolate, a Narraganset (sp?) and the Black Spanish. About 3 to 4 days ago we noticed that the Black looked to be limping or stiff maybe in his gait. Fast forward to today and he is very unsteady when standing. Kind of rocking and easily knocked around. Seems to be foraging and eating. They are penned in a 40' x 60' run with a 4' x 9' coop that they don't use. In this same pen are 6 ducks (when they feel like coming in from the pond, maybe every other day or so) and seven banty chicks that were hatched on Mothers day. His feathers look fine and he is bright and alert. Any suggestions or guesses?

Doesn't anyone have any guesses or any suggestions on where I should look for help? Anyone, anyone? Where are all of you Turkey people?

I don't have any guesses at all for turkeys. if he were a duck, I'd say it was niacin deficiency. Turkey feed specially formulated for turkeys should contain sufficient niacin.

However, if you are feeding chicken feed, you might try a niacin supplement. It won't hurt and a small chance it will help.

Thanks for the guess, I am not sure about the niacin levels, they are getting a 50/50 mix of 22% meat bird crumbles and 18% all flock pellets. What would be a good way to add some extra niacin?
