New way of de-crowing Roosters??

My sister was just over and talked to me about some old friends of hers that said, they de-crowed their roosters by clipping a fork in their tongue!
Has anyone ever heard of this?? Does it actually work?

Yeah, I'll be trying that right after I debeak all my hens, break and set my horses' tails and cut all my dogs' ears and tails off.

I don't see how clipping his "tongue" would make him stop crowing anyway. I mean, its not like they talk and need it to annunciate like we do....
