We lucked into the last minute big order cancellation at Meyer and were able to get some Welsummers now instead of later in the year. We have 2 roos and 8 pullets. It took us a few days to have enough time to take good pictures, but here they are. I really liked the look of the birds and the dark speckled eggs were really interesting so we had to have some.

I am jealous! I would really like a few Welsummers, but don't want to pay the shipping charges from the hatcheries that carry that breed. The hatcheries with reasonable shipping rates don't carry Welsummers! The ad for McMurray Hatchery shows a Welsummer rooster, but they don't actually carry them! Yours are double cute. They look very healthy.

Never heard of them, but looked them up on the 'net. They are in California and I am in Virginia, so three days shipping. They have worse shipping charges than any other I have checked out. Not only do you have to order a minimum of 25 chicks, they have to be the same breed and sex or they add on a big "boxing" charge. You can't order 23 pullets and two roos of the same breed without being charged extra. If you really mix up the breeds and sexes, they go crazy with boxing charges. I'll keep looking, but thanks.

I got them from Mypetchicken.com... I think thier earliest shipment of them is may 16th....when I got mine the return address was Norwalk CT but people have told me they don't come from CT. But they will ship as little a three chicks.... over night shipping is avaliable.....I can ship you Brewster if you want... he is such a pain in the butt... literally

Meyer does have them available pretty quickly again, but their shipping is the highest I've ever paid before. Ideal is the hatchery I usually use, but they are out of stock until fall.

I think Meyer was the one that wanted $35 to ship six chicks! OUCH!
