(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I am very new to chickens. I have 3 "starter" chickens I got from my boss. They are 4-5 years old and don't lay any more. I really just want them for eating ticks and cluster flies. I have 6 new babies coming in June to increase the demise of the ticks!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? 3 with 6 (or more!) on the way

(3) What breeds do you have? 1 Aracana, 2 Rhode Island Reds. 6 Aracana on the way and whatever else strikes my fancy!

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Google search

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Dogsledding.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I work for a Veterinary Diagnostic company as a chemist. We make tests for Companion animals (for Lyme, Heartworm, tick borne diseases) and livestock and Poultry (yes we have chicken diagnostics!) I have three sled dogs (not siberian huskies) and two cats. Learning to keep the chickens and dogs apart has been going very well. I think I am ready for some more. There are too many ticks at my house!!

I'm fairly new to chickens myself, though I've been hanging around on this site doing research for almost a year! I have 6 chickens, 12 weeks old, looking into getting a roo. (They need the protection!) I love the fact that they eat ticks... YAY! ( I HATE TICKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tuff on the ears too!! If these gals don't work, I am not sure what I will do. I don't think dogs and quineas will mix well. It might be a constant chorus!

Thanks all for the warm welcome!
