New with BYC

Hey I'm new to the backyard chicken scene. Just received 10 little white legorn chicks yesterday from TSC and hoover's hatchery. They all came in doing well. It's the start of my backyard flock.

I currently have them inside in a brooder I built and I have about 60 to 70 percent of the coop built. I'm a home remodeler/builder when I'm not at the fire station so I'm just just building my own coop.

I'd move them out to the coop as soon as you have it secure and finish brooding them there with a brooder plate.

The yellow plate on legs under the towel. The legs are adjustable so you can make the back slightly lower than the front and raise the entire thing up a little at a time as the chicks grow. The heat comes down from the plate and mimics a mother hen better than a heat lamp. They are FAR safer than heat lamps and use less energy to run them.
