Hello! My name is Tracey and I have been here before. I was a newbie the last time and things were going great for a while. Then a fox and hawk destroyed my entire flock only 48 hours and I was so discouraged I took a long break from chickens.

I'm trying again this year! My first batch of chicks should be on the way, but there's zero tracking updates and it's been a day. To anyone who has ordered online from Tractor Supply online, is that normal?

:welcome Welcome back to the BYC, Tracey. Although you went through a bad experience of losing your entire flock to coyotes and hawks, it's great to know that it hasn't discouraged you from trying again.

Here's a sub-forum you can browse and search to see how other members have dealt with predator issues:

Welcome back Tracy! We took a chicken hiatus too when a bobcat wiped out our entire flock, so I can confidently say you're going to love getting back into it. I've never ordered chicks online from tsc or another farm store, but my understanding is that they just tack your order on to their regular weekly store order. You could try calling the store and asking when they expect their next shipment of chicks.

Hiya, Tracey, and welcome back to BYC! :frow

I'm sorry for your loss back then. I would imagine you've made changes to your coop and run now. If not, and you need help, this is the place to get ideas and suggestions! Solar motion lights and cameras are other ideas that can help too.

We're glad you're here!
