Hello folks!

I have just joined this place as a keen new chicken owner. We currently have 8 brown shaver hens (possibly 7 soon, as one seems unwell and is currently in the house with me) in our flock, no roos. We rescued our girls from a "free range" egg farm where they can now experience what it's really like to be chickens. They get a nice, warm coop, treats, and plenty of space to roam during the day as opposed to being locked in a shed or barn with little to do. These are our first chickens though we've dreamt of having them for ages. We did lots of research before getting our girls, but I feel there is always more to learn..so I am here.

I am originally from Texas, but relocated to New Zealand with my partner. We have a mini zoo with the 8 hens, 2 guinea pigs, 2 cats, a single fish, and 3 rats. Oh, and two children.

I look forward to becoming part of this community!

Please post in full detail at "Emergencies, diseases, injuries, cures," thread. Hope your hen will heal fast.

Hiya,
Just to clarify, I was only attempting to introduce myself rather than currently seeking advice for ill hens. She unfortunately passed away yesterday by my side.
