What makes a better pet for a child a mini Rex or a New Zealand? We’ve had holland lops in the past and a few mixed foster bunnies. I have an 8 and 5 year old and they want a bunny they can handle and love on. I’ve narrowed it down to those 2 but now I just can’t decide:)

Well, I've only owned a Mini Rex, so this might be one sided...Lol. :)

I only had one Mini Rex a few years ago, but he was the sweetest rabbit ever. So gentle, never bit or scratched, and loved to be held. I know all rabbits have their own personalities, but that was my experience.

You probably don't want to hear this but ...... rabbits are not great pets for children. Most rabbits hate being picked up ( you probably already know this since you have had rabbits before). They can kick and accidentally scratch the person holding them. Rex rabbit are sweet but they have very skinny, sharp nails. But if you have your heart set on a rabbit I would suggest a larger rabbit. The bigger the rabbit the less scared they tend to be of people. If your kids want a pet they can pick up and hold I would suggest a guinea pig. They are much more open to being picked up and handled. Plus they are easier to care for than rabbit ( in my opinion). I hope you find the right pet. Good luck
