Hi everyone, I was wondering if there was any New Zealanders on this website. I would love to hear where you got your chickens from. What shows you go to? What NZ chook websites you use ect...

Woo for NZ ! Personally Ive gotten mine form a range of people and places and I can't remember who and where, In the poultry world its all about who you know ( my mother it would seem knows everyone...) . I don't really show but I do go to some of the poultry sales in my area, hbu?

Well i live in Palmerston North hby? I go to the Manawatu poultry show. I dont enter any though but i have looked on http://www.chooks.co.nz/ and were wondering if there were anymore sites that have quality birds

Also I was wanting to know how you train a dog to be with chicken

um it depends on the breed of the dog. our dogs have never been too problematic with them and mine thinks there awesome and licks their faces if they have food on them. generally its breed and training specific as to how they act. I live in chch and go to the willow bank and ashburton auctions usually. though trademe can have some good birds if you want really good ones its good to actually speak and see the breeders stock

I'm down in Dunedin. Hello! Have a new flock of 8 mixed breed chicks (5 weeks old atm) that I got from a local farm off trademe.

Not originally a Kiwi, but I live in Marton.
I just started raising chickens with guy I learned everything about gardening from. He bought an incubator and we are still in the learning process (The first lot we hatched is quite big now. One of them has layed her first egg yesterday! Araucanas, a red shaver hen, a funny looking easter egger roo and a little baby hyline/red shaver hen).
We got most of our eggs from a lady up in Tauranga. Shes got the most amazing place with heaps of little runs for the different breeds and a lot of her chickens are show winners.
All the other eggs we get of people we know locally (Black Langshan eggs from a lady in Bulls) and we always keep an eye out on trade me. As soon as you know someone who sells chickens or fertile eggs, they usually know someone, who knows someone,...

Another one from nz here! Im from Christchurch. Have two RIR one light sussex and one gold top silkie cross. Never been to a show before lol. Got all my chooks from different places. My gold top was from a place in spencerville at a day old, RIR just out of kiapoi already laying and my sussex from banks peninsula yesterday at 12 weeks. Anyone else from canterbury?
