As a general rule of thumb, you want about 4 sq ft in the coop area per bird and 10 sq ft per bird in the run. The ramp into the coop is fine. As to the discussion about hardware cloth vice chicken wire...

A lot of folks just go with chicken wire (I did), but I've since retrofitted everything outside the electric fence with hardware cloth. Something, suspect a raccoon, tore a hole in my chicken wire. I've also lost birds through the wire. I've also added 3 hot wires around the base of each of my shelters with a solar charger to deter diggers.

I suspect the shelter pictured will be too heavy to easily move, but adding retractable wheels isn't difficult, or you could use a pair of cheap dolly's. If it were me I'd probably only add wheels to the back and use a hose covered chain for the front.

There is so much information out here it can get overwhelming... Just step back, deep breath and take in what seems to work for you.

Well, I got my coop and my birds! I was very pleased with the coop for $400 delivered!

As to the chickens, I got 18 week olds, all. 3 white leghorns, 3 buff orpingtons, and 3 black stars. I also got 1 leghorn rooster.

My hope is that the big oblivious orpingtons take a que from the others, and run for cover when a predator presents during free-range time. I also hope the rooster becomes big and aggressive towards threats.

Thoughts? Advice?

Leghorn roos are very alert to predators. In my flock, they are first to sound the alarm. I've watched one draw off a hawk, while the girls took cover and then duck into his hidey hole at the last second.
