Hello! I am new to chickens. As a little girl my cousin and I always wanted a farm and a bunch of kids. We each have a three and sence My hubby and I moved to "the country" post Katrina I have been begging him for a few chickens. I got my chance to take them home when his mother bought 6 chicks for an Easter party last year. No one else wanted them or was a allowed to take them home so I got them.

We lost one chick when they were still very small and we still have 5 of them. We have 2 buff ophington hens, 2 white sex linked (i think) hens, and one black cochin frizzle rooster. Three of the girls and Nifty Ned are doing well, but one seems to be off. we seperated her from the others 3 weeks ago so they would not pick on her. I am affraid that it might be malecks (sp?). I would love it if I could talk to someone or maybe I will make a post in the disease section.

I really love having my girls (everyone else in my house is a boy)!!! They are so much fun!

Thank you for my wonderful welcomes! I really do enjoy my chickens.

On a sad note my sick chicken did die. I tried everything I read about to save her but it just was not ment to be.

My other girls and a boy are doing good and we plan to add to the flock this spring!
