I don't yet have chickens. Am trying to learn before I buy lol. I am frequently away from home on weekends. And sometimes I don't get home from work before dark. So even though I want chickens I'm hesitate. Hoping this sight can help me make my decision.

WELCOME!
I, too, researched for quite a while before I took the plunge into keeping chickens.
They are really quite easy to keep.
If you're not home much on the weekends, make sure you put a lot of extra feeders and waterers out for them and they are in a predator-proof enclosure.
Chickens pretty much take care of themselves otherwise.
And they're SO MUCH FUN!!!!!

You are doing things the right way. Research, select, and plan and you will come up with a workable way of maintaining a flock. Good luck.
