Unless your dogs are out 24 hours a day chicken wire wont keep a raccoon from reaching in and pulling your chickens out thru the wire. Raccoons are extremely strong and can rip chicken wire apart with no effort at all. Hardware cloth is much stronger and nothing can fit thru those small holes.

If nothing else at least make sure your chickens are locked inside a secure box or coop at night.

Thanks for the welcome! Yeah I know Raccoons can be real chicken thieves, but my dogs are in the yard 24-7, so I am hoping that is enough. If it even becomes a hint of a problem, I will change it up.

Welcome! Our dogs love hanging with the chickens....between them and our rooster, we have had no issues so far.

That's cool. I wish I could have a rooster in my city. My plan is to let the chickens run around the yard every other day to forage. Thanks all for the kind welcome!
