so i went in to do evening feedings and round up and i noticed my little call duck make trying to mate with my female muscovy. he is really much to small and never thought anyhting could come of it. i saw when he got on her back he would lift her tail and goop was comming out.... i have never seen anyhting like this and i googled it and am finding no info. is this normal firstly? is she in heat or somehting?? was it semen from the little guy?? both of my two female muscovys layed their first eggs today as well if that means something. thanks for any info into this.

Oh, it's that time of year again! [IMG]

Duckie hormones are revved up, and so is your call drake. The goo could have been from either, from what I have seen of my Runner girls. Their exudations tend to look more like a milk sauce, btw.

So, she is probably "feeling it," and so is he, and, well, they are ducks. I think especially with Muscovies, which I hear are seasonal layers, there is definitely a correlation between laying eggs and being in the mood.

At least it's not a Muscovy drake and call ducks! That could literally be fatal!
