Introducing myself, per the recommendation. I am Mokooc, Mom of kids owner of chickens, ha!

We are currently in the Mid-Atlantic.

We have a flock of 8 golden comets, 6 buff brahmas hens, and 1 RIR. They feed our very large family, but also our extended family, friends, librarians, and neighbors. We had a mixed flock a few years ago of B.O's, EE, Speckled Sussex, and Barred Rock, but gave them to a family who needed them more.

When we move here soon, we have homeschool families who have wanted to get into chickens lined up to take some hens, and we will be eating some buffs. ,

Just hatched our first batch yesterday. Our B.B. rooster died 4 weeks before we tried incubating eggs, predator. We put 10 eggs in the bator, 5 BB x GC, none of those fertilized, but I expected that because the GC's wouldn't let our poor Brahma Kahn mate them! All 5 B.B. eggs hatched, well, I suspect one egg was actually the RIR egg! It's an adorable chick, the first to hatch, biggest, liveliest! I will post pics later. I am pretty impressed our very young Rooster's seed lasted so long and produced 5 beautiful chicks! 4 weeks! CRAZY!

I love birding, gardening, prepping, and hiking. If people like, I think I have some lovely pics of local birds and my chickens. Love hanging out with my family most of all! Thanks for the forums, whatever genius started this, I've gotten so many great perspectives reading the forums! Blessings!

Forgot to add, there's a Dark Brahma butt in that photo! We raised a few Dark Brahmas for a family who wanted to get into dual purpose breeds. The wanted to have some meat, ate one DB but the kids of that family wanted to save the others :D Now, they have have a couple egg laying DB hens. :D
