I currently have 21 chickens-3 are roosters. I have a few well summers, Golden lace, Rhode Island reds, and not sure what else. I’m learning to identify. I just got 2 New Hampshire chicks, one Americona- not sure of spelling, and another Rhode Island Red. I acquired them through a friend who was going to move and needed to rehome them. We lost our friendship over a chicken. He wanted me to lend him one after he decided he was not going to move so that the new chicks he was going to buy would have a momma. Honestly, I did not think it would work and I did not want to give up any of my chickens. I offered to buy him two from a friend. He got mad and no longer talks to me. I fell in love with the chickens- head over heels! Now I’m chicken crazy.
My husband has now started to help with them. I love watching them and seeing how each one behaves. They have different personalities. I have one rooster-John- I think I’m the love of his life! I’m a retired teacher and I never saw myself as a chicken lady. We have 2 old dogs, a 50 gal. tank full of guppies, a cat, and a Quaker parrot. I crochet, macrame, keep lots of plants, watercolor, draw, sew, and am an actor. I do online class for theater with the actor Tony Plana and director Bill Gundry. I’m a writer and a musician. I’m a born again believer. I love my Jesus and I also have a ministry called twosistersministriessa. I’m going to be 65 this February. I teach anger management at the prison and online. I have a very disfunctional family- so I guess that is pretty much normal nowadays. I’m believing God to bring unity so we can move forward and all enjoy my chickens. I have two Harleys and hopefully I can get my chickens to chase me on my property.
I taught Spanish and English and worked for 30 years in the educational system . I’d rather raise chickens! I love people and absolutely love my country! May God richly bless America!
Currently I don’t have a favorite breed of chicken. I don’t think I never will. I love them all. My plan is to have about 50 chickens. I’m currently incubating a few. I read a lot so I can learn. That is how I came about this chicken site. Well, thank you for reading all this and happy chickening!

Chickens are addicting!
I was raised around them, almost had them constantly, and at 62 still cant imagine not having them.
You have had an intersting life so far. Share your chicken photos whenever you can. We love pictures!
Welcome to the backyard!
