Hello from a normal neighborhood home in Tennessee! On June 1st we welcomed 4 new additions to our happy family...an Americauna, an Australorp, a Silver-laced Wyandotte, and a Gold-laced Wyandotte. We think our little flock is about 5 weeks old. Aside from that lovely aroma they produce, we have thoroughly enjoyed having them inside. They have entertained us and we have entertained them. A couple of days ago we introduced them to our chicken tractor - only for a brief period of time. They have loved being outside! The grass, the bugs...even the dogs, have fascinated them. (Of course, we're keeping a close eye on the level of fascination that is taking place between the chickie and the dogs.) Today I have had the chicks out for most of the day. If they have plenty of fresh food (medicated chicken starter), water, grit, and an occasional mealworm treat, is it okay to start leaving them outside? I have read several threads before actually joining this forum and seen a variety of advice, but would truly appreciate any helpful advice. Thank you very much!
