In the Brooder
Hey y'all!
I'm new here as a member although I have been online stalking posts and reading everything I can for awhile now!
We are finally securing some property and dreams of chickens have been dancing through my head! I thought I'd come on and read some more, soak it up, and learn from everyone!
Are there any suggestions for owning chickens in Central Oregon, where it can get hotter than blue blazes in summer, but then frightfully chilly during the winter? Any special problems to watch out for? Is it true that any chickens w/ feathered feet are a no-go for snow, r/t frost bite issues?
I don't have any experience owning chickens, although my sister has an amazing urban flock down in CA, in her backyard, and is amazing at it. I have 3 dogs and a cat... love tattoos, wine, camping, and my fur-kids. And my hubby. I should add that in there, lol! We are in the beginning stages of planning things out...I'm somewhat of a control freak so I like to know how to go about things first!
Anyway, can't wait to go reading more, and thank you for all input!
