I am about to get five ringneck pheasants. I have never had them before and don't really know anyone who has. I would love to hear any pointers, secrets and just common knowledge on how to be profitable with it.

Your getting 5 hens, males, combo? If you can choose the 5,get 1 male and 4 hens. There are not enough hens if you get 2 males. You will end up with 1 male quickly. You will by no means make any money with them. The grain is so expensive now you almost need a second job to support your birds. They must be kept in a covered pen,by covered I mean by wire or roof over them.Give them plenty of hiding spots and perches, but keep the perches about 3 ft down from the the top of the pen so predators can't reach down and grab them.An apron around the perimeter of the pen is also suggested. They should not be kept near chickens as chickens can give them diseases. They need a gamebird feed such as game and turkey feed.Any more questions feel free to ask that's why were here.I am about to get five ringneck pheasants. Are you getting 6 birds or 12?Red goldens are a species,I don't know what you mean by red.I am in the same boat, I just ordered 6 red and golden's! From what I have been told, dont expect too much profit, but if you are like me, as long as I can make enough for them to sustain themselves, I am happy. Subscribed.
