My wife told me to post, she said i should be proud of of my acheivement for the first attempt. So far 11 chicks from 22 eggs, one died before hatching, one just finished, and at least one another on the way. My incubator has no humidity meter thing(cant find one in my price range) a 40w bulb, thermostat from a spa pool, fan from a scrapped machine ( idont know what) and is a polystyrene box i found in the skip at work. Took me about an hour to make, and seems to be doing the trick. The chicks are a mixture from a Barnvelder rooster($1), six brown shavers($36) and a Black Orpington(free). The newborn (tonight) has an extra toe on each foot, but after an hour or so, is jumping around hopping over the other eggs in the incubator. just waiting now for the others to either tme out, or hatch, Then in with the next lot.[/img]

Here's the pics of my bator, like i said earlier,It's a simple affair, but it works. now going to look for a humidity thingy, see if i can get better results. One more hatching just now, cant wait to see what colour this one is!!!!

you got better results than I did with my 1588 and I had all kinds of monitors.

Must be the rag you have in the bottom.... "contact heating"....

I love your incubator!

Could you explain how you made it? It looks like it's in my financial capacity.
Congratulation on your babies and good luck with them.
