Hi Jan, nice to meet you. Have you checked out the very informative Learning Center? It should have answers to most of your questions. If you put the name of your state in the search box , followed by 'thread." it should connect you. Then you can post and ask questions about weather, type of coop best for your areas, etc. You may even find other chicken folk living near you. Welcome to Backyard chickens.
