Newbie Cucurbits Question. How should I plant them with other plants?

I have a few different elevated plots, each made to hold companion plants of cucumber, watermelon, and a pie pumpkin, all cucurbits are separated.
I have a question do I plant the cucurbits on the edge of each plot, in the middle, or 3 separate ones? Hard to describe, I'll post a picture.

How big are your pots? All of those plants get rather large unless they're a patio variety. I'd plant them each in their own pot. Maybe add some marigolds or basil to contrast with them (like one of the purple ones if you go with basil).

I'm growing other plants like broccoli and onion in the same plot with watermelon and a bit more. The plot sizes are not determined yet because I am still searching for a website with the cool plant grids.
Edit- I can try to make separate plots for them if I really have to.

Haaaaaaa I misread plot as pot. Whoops! As long as you have roughly 6' diameter (with the plant at center) without another of them in it you should be good. Broccoli and onion should be okay, I just wouldn't put the onion too close to the base of any of the cucurbits as their root systems are pretty shallow (if I remember correctly) depending on what kind of onion you're talking and when you're gonna be harvesting, as it would be a pain to pull one up and dislodge the wrong plant.

I typically grow corn and beans with my cucurbits (three sisters style). Works pretty well, as long as you don't start the beans too early.

I'd plant the cucumber in a row and trellis them. Usually a 5' to 6' high trellis works well. I've had some climb high enough I had to get a ladder to gather them but if the trellis isn't that tall they just bend over and grow down. Most don't grow that high anyway. Space the plants about 10" to 12" apart.

watermelon, and a pie pumpkin
This depends a lot on the variety you plant. Many watermelon and pumpkin varieties will send vines out 20 feet or so. They can take up a lot of space. I typically plant these in hills, maybe 3 or 4 seeds in a hill, and the hills about 5' apart. It can help to mulch all around then to keep weeds and grass down. Some varieties don't spread that much so read the instructions.
