Hello to all BYC members and thank you for the invite.
We are relatively new to chickens(my brother had some when I was younger,sparked an interest,I guess).We had 5 chicks to start,have four now thanks to a family members dog
.-I was told these girls were barred rock,had them since last March and not sure what we have.They are black with some reddish brown feathering,lay brown eggs and have been alot of fun,so far.I
will have to post a photo soon and get some input from you'all out there.Noticed a slowing in egg laying during colder/rainy climate,but generally getting two or three eggs per day.They have been pretty trouble free for the most part.We live in central CA so the weather is pretty mild most of the time.Started this last Spring and had alot of interest from my kids in the beginning,but of course,as with the rest of the animals,they're all mine now....

4 chickens,2 cats,1 dog,1 real old fancy gold fish--Oh yeah,two boys,and one real patient and tolerant wife!!
