Hello everybody

I'm SO glad I found this page and forum, there's SO much helpful and interesting information here!!

I love it that new members are asked to introduce ourselves! So, I'm a 33 yo female from Costa Rica. I'm completely new to chickens, I got mine as a bday gift from my husband on the 21st (my bday was on the 27th) and have been completely in love with them!!

We have 4 hens and 1 rooster, they are all Silkies. One of the hens has 3 Silkie eggs and one Brahma egg, I can't wait for them to hatch and have cute little chicks running around!

We also have 4 cats, 3 of them have been mesmerized by the chicks since day one! We've kept them apart as the cat's have never seen a bird in their life and I'm afraid they might hurt them.

We have a coop and a run that my husband build mostly by himself (I'm a girly girl so I didn't help much

I only did the nice and easy things such as painting). We are still working on the details and small things; I will definitely post a picture as soon as it's ready, I'm super proud of him and what he's done and can't wait to share!

That's all I can think about, feel free to ask anything if you want!!

Hi and :welcome

Glad to have you here!
Your husband sounds like a nice fella. I love painting, but there aren't that many opportunities for me to do that these days. :lau The house was all renovated years ago.

Good luck with the hatching!
Oh, and the cats should be okay around grown chickens. At least my hens are capable of chasing the neighbourhood cats away,. yowling as they go. It's the chicks you have to be careful with, they're small and easy targets. :p

What a nice bunch of people you guys are!! I guess I'm used to more 'hostile' forums around the net, glad to see things are different here. Must be the chicken love!!!
