Hi we're new to the site and to chicken raising. Event photographers with time on our hands.
We just built a chicken coop and bought four hens and a rooster that a friend gave us.
One Rhode Island Red for eggs named Ramona
One Barred Rock for eggs named Lola
One Golden Sebright for raising named Penny
One old English Bantam for raising named Dixie
One Bantam Rooster (see Avatar) named Fabio.
We don't know what we are doing just that we love animals and have been wanting chickens for a while now.
We have a horse, two dogs, four cats and a Quaker parrot.
It's a zoo out here and we love them all.
Any tips on how to raise our chickens are welcome.
Would like to know the proper way to get some bantam and Sebright chicks and how we would go about showing a bird on a county fair.
What is the prerequisite and rules and such for a showing.
Thanks in advance
Texas-Chick
PS here is a link to our chicken coop.
