Hello Everyone. This site has already been so helpful to me. We just got about twenty-five chickies. We lost one yesterday,it was just so small and I don't think it handled the shock of birth to feed store very well. That is how I found this site. I found a thread that related to my issue and found lots of well thought out and experienced guidance and advice. You can really tell how much this group cares about their hatchlings! So, I signed up and am very happy to be here.

Hello from Kansas, kayre001, and

! Pleased you found BYC and signed up! It is indeed a great site. My fiance' is from Great Falls! She's not a big fan of the summer heat of "the south" as she calls Kansas! Good luck to you!

Thanks, redsoxs! This was my first winter in Montana! I have to say, I loved it! I just moved here from NC. I do not miss the humidity and heat. It does get hot here in the summer, but the humidity is not there to soak you down and sap your energy. I do think I will be surprised if if snows in June, like it did last year. Gonna have to keep the chickies warm and toasty if that does happen. Thanks again for making me feel welcome!

Hello and welcome, I am also a neophite to the site. Sorry to hear about your not uncommon loss. The best you can do is try to make the best environment and nutrition for your babies.

Has anybody heard of all the hoopla going on about this urban chicken ordinance. My property got absorbed by city limits a few years back. Literally the last house in city limits on upper river road and I just got my chicks. I'm Probably gonna be an outlaw but we shall see.

As long as you keep a low profile and don't keep a dozen roosters, nobody will complain and you'll be O.K.
