Greetings everyone! I'm a new chicken keeper. As of right now, I'm still in the coop construction process, but will be ordering some chicks in the near future. I'm very excited! I had chickens when I was a kid, but the roosters were evil and possessed. I'm determined to have friendly, flying pet birds. I'll be ordering some Buff Orpingtons. I'd like to have a flock of 5 or 6 hens and one rooster...just a small backyard operation. I live in Henry County, Kentucky with my husband of 2 1/2 years (we're both 28 years old) and our two dogs, Dixie and Zeppelin, both American Pit Bull Terriers. Aside from spending time with my husband and my precious pitties, I enjoy nearly anything that can be done outdoors. I hate being "cooped up" inside, lol. I enjoy both flower and vegetable gardening, as well as cooking and reading. I'm a recent Trueblood addict (got hooked on the show after having read all the books). I'm so thrilled to be a part of this online chicken community!
