Hello! My name is Janet, and I've been lurking on the board all week trying to soak up as much information as I can. I am impulsive, and tend to make my decisions very spontaneously, but research them to death before I actually take the plunge.
That being said, Sunday night is when I decided I wanted to raise chickens! My husband has been begging to get rid of the above ground pool that we have. Between the pool and the deck, it takes up a LOT of space. Monday we discussed it, and I agreed to try and sell it, IF we could get chickens. After talking to me about it, he agreed and actually is pretty excited about it. Monday, I also called about zoning ordinances, even though I'm in the county, because I live in a residential area. I'm all set!
Yesterday, I sold the pool!
Today I ordered six pullets from Meyer Hatchery. Coincidently, my friend that's buying our pool has raised chickens her whole life, including incubating and hatching them herself, so I have her to help me out too! Around July 27, I will have two Delaware, two Dominique, and two Ameraucana's!
