I'm new to the forum. My name is Michele, I live in NW KY, and have just purchased my first chickens (from Cackle Hatchery). I have 5 Black Sex Links, 5 Rhode Island Reds, 5 White Leghorns all pullets, and 1 Brown Leg Horn cockerel.
So far all have survived their first two weeks at our farm! (one chick arrived barely breathing and passed soon after arrival-I think he as an extra they just stuck in the box)
We live on a 21 acre farm. We have previously raised and trained horses, but I got sick (cancer-stage 4), and could no longer do that. So now we are just living with one gelding and two miniature horses, and now 16 chickens.
We have almost finished their coop, 12X14X6(h). My friends call it a chicken mansion! It was originally a 3 sided shavings shed. We put on a roof, and closed the front with hardcloth wire.
