Hello there...I am new here also and am from Lexington, SC. I have a group of Ameraucana, well sort of...I have two pure bred black hens...they have tail feathers. I have a mixed breed red/Ameraucana with purple feet, and in with them I have a maybe mixed Ameraucana rooster who is beautiful and named Billy Bob. I give all my chickens names....This pen holds Billy Bob, Midnight and Oprah and Violet. My bigger pen holds no rooster. There I have two white leghorns(Thelma and Louise), 3 Buffs named Goldie, Sunshine, and Blondie. I also have in this pen a road island red named Big Red, and one blackish hen which I'm not sure of her breed named Miss Chick. I average daily from this pen usually one or two eggs per hen...usually I get 2 huge white eggs from the white leghorns, and all the rest lay brown eggs, varying in shades of brown. From the Ameraucana pen I get two blue eggs and Violet, the mixed breed lays a huge dark brown egg...not the chocolate egg, but just dark. We are in the process of building a bigger pen and plan to put about 30 assorted hens there. I have pictures somewhere on one of these forums...not used to all this yet, but getting there...anxious to see your coop....frankie
