Hi! My name is Becca and my husband and I are new to chickens. We just picked up our first 4 chicks on the 5th and they are Silver Laced Wyandotte pullets. This Tuesday we are getting 4 more chicks, and they will be Barred Rocks. I joined this website hoping it will be useful when I need information. I have read a couple of books and have done a lot of research on the internet on raising them....I feel like I have a decent feel for how it should all go, I just hope we can keep them out of harms way since we live on the border of the city and an agricultural area. Several people in our neighborhood have chickens as well and I am hoping if theirs have not been eaten by any predators by now that ours will be ok. This weekend we are building them their chicken coop which will have a large run that will have enclosed sides. My biggest worry is our cats and other neighbor cats! We planned on getting a few more just in case we have any accidents. Anyways....enough rambling on! Enjoy your weekend!
