from GA. you came to the right place. I am not positive but I believe we have a silkie thread. But I will tell you they are my favorite right now great mother and just as cute as can be.

Im new to silkies, Ive only had them a couple of weeks, but Ive wanted them for so long. I lost one of my original silkies. My husband bought them as a gift for me. I hated when what I think was a girl died suddendly. I got another one and I think its sick too. The one I have that was a gift I think is a roo, and is soooo pretty. They are a little skinny in my opinion. Im at such a loss. I have other chicken children. Lets seee...

Well silkies are a great breed to have especially if you like broody chickens. How is your silkie acting sick? Have you asked about it on the Emergencies / Diseases / Injuries and Cures on the index page? Hopefully we could figure it out before something bad happens.

Hidy All,
I live in Tullahoma. I think my little silkie is just lonely for another chick its own size. It has a young roo with it, but I suppose thats not the same as having another little kid to talk too. Teenagers are no fun to hang with. I would like to get another pullet for my roo. Im not sure what this little chick will be its just not big enough to tell just yet. To be honest Im not 100% sure the roo is a roo, it hasnt crowed just yet, but it tried to go beak to beak with another teenage roo I have. Its hairdoo looks like a big afro, and its tail is very plummy. It holds it head very upright like he thinks he is bigger than everything. I moved them outside yesterday and the little ones is very active and eats better than it did when it was inside. I will post some pictures as soon as I figure out how. I have white silkies, but I wouldnt mind have another color maybe black. I love these birds, my husband bought them for me as a gift, although one of the originals died on my last week, she got sick suddenly and within two days she was gone. Thats why I have a younger chick now.
Im so excited about this forum, and the fact there are folks that are so close to me!!!!

Leiper's Fork, TN. I live about 17 miles out of Franklin, TN and have 12 10 week old chickens. 6 are Rhode Island Reds and 6 are Buff Orpingtons. I have been having a good time with my chickens so far. They free range every day and go back into their run at night. I haven't built a coop yet, but are in the planning stages of one. I do think that they are happier in groups, horses are the same way. Find him/her some buddies!

There are a LOT of silkie owners in Tennessee as a whole and middle Tennessee in particular. The American Bantam Silkie Club even held its annual show in Lawrenceburg last year. You are in the right place! Silkietime has gorgeous splash and white silkies. I had the chance to see her birds a couple of weeks ago and they are lovely!
