Hi all! I'm new here, and sure that I will need all the help I can get! I hope to get good enough at this to help out myself sometimes! I got my first baby chicks on Thursday (10 of em) and am enjoying every moment! (even the worrying and looking in on them in the middle of the night!) I've always wanted chickens and finally have the room for them.

We have an Austrolorp, a Rhodie, an Americauna, a Silver Laced Wyandotte, two Barred Rocks, one Buff Orpington, one mystery chick (suspect Blue Splash Maran) and two silkies for the kids (one splash and one Buff) Its a mixed flock for sure! :)

My hubby built us a nice brooder, and things seem to be going fairly smoothly (except one hiccup which I've posted in emergencies here already

Anyway, I'm also a photographer, so of course, I stuck them in my light tent and took pics right away! lol

Did you take the pictures for your banner/signature? They look really good!
 
Yep, those are my babies. Thanks! :)

We named them all after our grandmothers. Except the Silkies. My kids named them David Bowie and Goldie Hawn. lol

That's pretty neat. The only real creative names I have for mine are "Rooster Cogburn" my golden-laced wyandotte rooster (True Grit) and "the Bearded Lady" who is an Arucana who has a mass of black feathers below her beak. ^_-
