Newbie from MN

Doing some research, preparing the shed and joining BYC are all good practices BEFORE you get chickens. I wish I had done all of that first!

This is a great community of folks who will be happy to help you in any way we can -- ask anything, and somebody likely has a good answer for you. Welcome to our flock; let us know when you get your birds in the spring, please!

Welcome and Merry Christmas from your south in Iowa. Good folks, sound advice. We are glad you are here! A converted shed is a great idea, but remember the run too! We have a bird flu outbreak here, which is requiring us to keep the girls from free ranging for the foreseeable future. Covered, well protected from predators with protection from the wind for your brutal winters. There is a formula here for square feet per bird. I’m sure you can find it. Again, welcome, we are happy you joined us!
